HOUSTON, APRIL 8, 2026 – Toyota Center and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment today announced Toyota Center Reimagined, a transformation of Toyota Center designed to elevate the fan experience and further position downtown Houston as a premier destination for sports, entertainment, and major events.

The comprehensive project, approved today by the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority, represents a transformational investment in the future of downtown Houston and coincides with the George R. Brown Convention Center expansion project already underway. Construction will begin following the Rockets season, with completion expected by the fall of 2027.

“Today’s announcement reflects our commitment to continually invest in Houston and deliver a world-class experience for the millions of guests who visit Toyota Center and downtown Houston each year,” said Tilman J. Fertitta, Owner of Clutch City Sports & Entertainment. “Toyota Center Reimagined will elevate the guest experience, introduce dynamic new gathering spaces, and ensure Toyota Center remains one of the premier sports and entertainment destinations in the country.”

“This improvement to the Toyota Center reflects Houston’s commitment to meeting today’s needs while preparing for the future,” said Houston Mayor John Whitmire.  “It ensures we can continue to cheer on the Rockets and Comets and support a strong convention business for years to come. I thank the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority for its leadership and partnership with my administration, as well as county and state officials.”

"This is a significant milestone for both the Houston Rockets and the City of Houston,” said Ryan Walsh, Chief Executive Officer of the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority.  “As the steward of Houston’s sports venues, including Toyota Center, the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority is proud to partner in this important investment. The modernization of the arena is a critical step in maintaining Houston’s competitive edge as the premier destination for major events. These upgrades will not only elevate the fan experience, but also strengthen our ability to attract high-profile events, drive tourism, and generate economic impact across the region.”

The centerpiece of Toyota Center Reimagined is the addition of a nearly 20,000-square-foot atrium at the corner of Polk and La Branch streets. The new atrium will feature a striking glass façade, creating a covered outdoor gathering space of more than 3,000 square feet and serving as a vibrant front door to Toyota Center and downtown Houston.

Equipped with state-of-the-art digital displays, the atrium will provide increased flexibility for events and pre-event activations. A Season Ticket Members Lounge will add nearly 5,000 square feet of premium hospitality and meeting space, featuring an open design that keeps guests connected to the energy of the atrium while maintaining a more private setting.

The new Rockets and Comets Team Store will more than double the current retail footprint and support merchandise needs for all Toyota Center events, with additional point-of-sale and self-checkout kiosks to improve speed of service.

The south entry along Bell Street will be reconfigured to enhance the arrival experience. Guests will have a direct view of the arena bowl upon entry and access to a new hospitality space for all fans, instantly connecting them to the energy of the event.

As part of the project, all existing suites will be fully renovated and modernized, creating a significantly enhanced premium experience across multiple levels of the arena. Upgrades will include refreshed interiors, improved sightlines, upgraded furnishings and finishes, and enhanced hospitality functionality designed to better support corporate entertainment, client engagement, and networking.

The popular Skybridge entrance, connecting Toyota Center to the Toyota Tundra Garage, will receive an overhaul aimed at improving the premium arrival experience.

Toyota Center Reimagined also introduces several new hospitality and premium experiences. The new Summit Club on the suite level will feature more than 6,000 square feet of premium hospitality space with multiple dining and lounge areas designed to accommodate a variety of uses and deliver a differentiated all-inclusive experience. The Sky Bar and HOU Market will add approximately 5,000 square feet on the upper concourse, offering views of downtown and elevated hospitality for all guests.

Several infrastructure improvements will also be implemented throughout the arena.  New and upgraded vertical transportation systems will provide easy access across all five levels.  Enhanced fiber cabling and broadcast capabilities will better support large-scale productions.  Technological improvements, including upgraded data systems and a higher-capacity Wi-Fi network, will position Toyota Center to meet future demands.  An updated, modernized command center will provide an even safer and more welcoming environment.

Toyota Center Reimagined continues a multi-year investment in the venue led by Tilman J. Fertitta and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment. Over the past two years, Toyota Center introduced a cutting-edge 6,200-square-foot center-hung scoreboard, part of a venue-wide lighting and video upgrade, while also beginning the replacement of the arena’s original seating.  Additional improvements included a full roof replacement and modernized media workspace and dining facilities, further elevating the venue for fans, teams, and event partners.

Together, these improvements represent a continued commitment to downtown and ensures Toyota Center remains one of the premier sports and entertainment destinations in the country.
